For me, jewelry design has evolved as an authentic extension of the women often portrayed in my watercolor paintings. Spanning my lifetime, living in Uganda, India, and now Bali, the simple, but graceful and strong feminine forms that enrich the rural landscape have captured my imagination and served as my muse. Fleeting mental images of women carrying water pots on their heads with beautiful poise and balance inspired the Amazzi collection. “Amazzi” means water in the primary dialect of Uganda, my homeland. In this collection, designs are based on pots. The pots symbolize nurturance, abundance, and wholeness, which is the essence of a woman’s being.
